Il s'agit d'un rapport interne de police, établi sur un formulaire pré-établi. Il fait mention d'un fait qui n'a pas été établi de visu par le fonctionnaire de police.

This is an internal police report, written on a prepared document. It mentions certain details which had not been previously recorded in the first-hand account of the reporting police officer.

Contexte historique

Ce rapport est rédigé pendant le mois qui précède deux événements décisifs : d'une part, l'opération Torch et le débarquement des troupes anglo-saxonnes en Afrique du Nord (7-8 novembre 1942) et, d'autre part, l'occupation de la "zone libre" qui devient la "zone Sud" après le 11 novembre 1942.

Ce rapport est un des nombreux témoignages de l'activité de délation à laquelle se livrent bon nombre de Français. Il est à noter que la dénonciation dont il est la source ne s'appuie sur aucun fait constaté de visu : il se fonde simplement sur un tract qui a été trouvé.

This report was made during the months prior to two crucial events of World War II: operation Torch, the landing of English troops in North Africa (November 7^th and 8^th 1942), and the occupation of the “free zone” which then became known as the “Southern Zone” after November 11^th, 1942.

This report is one of the numerous testimonials of denunciation in which many French people engaged. It is to be noted that the act of denunciation that is reported was not directly seen by the Police officer, but was only made out of rumors.
